Weeks, John

  • John Weeks co-founded and serves as the executive director of the Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care (ACCAHC) of which MEAC is a member and with which NARM has participated. Weeks is also a blogger at Huffington Post and publisher-editor of the Integrator Blog News & Reports, the leading resource on policy and business activity related to integrative health care. Weeks has worked as writer, as organizer and in various executive capacities in this field for 27 years. He has held consulting relationships with numerous stakeholders spanning employer, payer, practitioner, delivery, governmental, academic and research organizations – including the Midwives Association of Washington State. Besides ACCAHC, Weeks’ work as organizer includes: retained by the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner to develop the Clinician Workgroup on the Integration of CAM (1998); convened the Integrative Medicine Industry Leadership Summits (2000-2002); gathered start-up funding for the Integrated Healthcare Policy Consortium (2001); and directed the National Education Dialogue to Advance Integrated Health Care (2005). He has been granted two honorary doctorates for his work. Weeks views as his highest professional accomplishment managing to break loose for a 3-year (working) sabbatical in Costa Rica and Nicaragua with his spouse, a trained and formerly licensed midwife, and children (2002-2005). Both of his children were born at home with the support of licensed midwives. He and his spouse are donors to the MAMA Campaign which he has covered regularly. Weeks attended Stanford University for three years, studying history.
