Suzy Myers, LM, CPM, MPH has over 30 years of experience as a midwife, midwifery educator and advocate. She co-founded Seattle Midwifery School in 1978, where she developed curriculum and taught core courses. The home and birth center practice she established with her partner Marge Mansfield, http://www.seattlehomematernity.com, has provided midwifery care to over 2000 families and also serves as a clinical training site. In 1988 she earned a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Maternal Child Health Program at the University of Washington. She was a founder of the Midwives’ Association of Washington State and worked as an advocate for midwifery and improved maternity care services in a variety of forums. Since 2002 she has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives (NACPM). Following the recent merger with Seattle Midwifery School, she is currently Chair of the Department of Midwifery at Bastyr University, http://www.seattlemidwifery.org/midwifery-education/mep-overview.html, where students earn a Master’s degree in Midwifery. She is actively involved in assisting students with graduate level research projects.
